Equality Asheville Announces July Events
Equality Asheville, a coalition of equality organizations in western North Carolina, has just released a schedule of events that will coincide with the Exodus International Conference from July 15 - 19, 2008. The week starts with this Kick Off Event on July 15:

Support Equality in NC: Oppose the Proposed Anti-Marriage Amendment
Visit Equality NC's Action Center to oppose the proposed anti-marriage amendment which has been introduced into the state senate.
For the past four years, Equality NC has led successful campaigns to defeat such amendments in committee. Contact your state reps to make sure we beat it again. |

What does the CA Ruling Mean?
The NYT presents responses to yesterday's groundbreaking supreme court ruling, which affirmed the right of gay couples to marry. The article, excerpted here, poses the question of if and how this will impact the Presidential race:
But the decision by the California Supreme Court on Thursday overturning the state’s ban on same-sex marriage seems likely to put the issue back onto the national political stage for the time being. In the process, it should offer a test of whether the issue is resonant in American politics or whether it has fallen to the side of the road, as many Democrats and some Republicans say. |
